1000 Sweets on display at Parade Grounds
Hyderabad Jan 11 (): Tourism and Culture Minister A Chandulal has stated that Telangana Government will be conducting third International Kite Festival and also a Sweet Festival to mark Pongal – Makara Sanktranthi festival from Jan 13 to 15. We have made elaborate arrangements for the kite festival to be conducted for three days on a grand note at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. The minister launched a wall poster of kite festival with MLA Srinivas Goud, Secretary B Venkatesham and others at Secretariat here. Chandulal said that the kite festival with 1000 varieties of sweets on display will be the first of its kind in the world. The arrangements have been made for Sankranthi Festival and about one lakh people will witness the event, he said. Chandulal also stated that a gamut of 1000 sweets will be on display and sold on at affordable prices in the stalls being erected in the Parade Grounds. He said that as many as 15 nations and 25 states are participating in the International Kite Festival and denizens of the city will come in a large numbers. Venkatesham said that Kite and Sweet Festival will be conducted on the lines of Hyderabad which have international recognition. Parade Grounds will be enveloped in a festive mood and will be looking like Mini India even as the people vie to have the glimpse of the Kite festival he noted. He said that the sweets to be sold on affordable prices, being prepared by women from several nations and states. The festivities he said will reflect our traditions and cultures and unity in diversity Venkatesham said. The entry into the Parade Grounds is completely free and about one lakh people are expected to turn up to grand gala program every day.
