Agri Scientists should increase farmers income, tells Governor  



Hyderabad Dec 13 (): Governor ESL Narasimhan has called upon the agriculture scientists and officials to use technology with innovative ideas to increase farmers’ income and remove rural poverty. He was addressing the first convocation at Professor Jayashankar Agriculture University here at Rajenderanagar here. On the occasion the Governor said that the Agriculture scientists make efforts to develop farm sector and ensure that poverty in villages is removed besides educating the poor in the villages use nutritional food and remain healthy. Narasimhan said that upliftment of rural poor by providing urban facilities to improve income levels of farming community. He said that, elimination of poverty in Telangana is my dream and will be reality if persistent efforts are made. He emphasized that education should have societal relevance and contribute to over all development of rural areas. Agriculture education with more practical orientation will make the students to serve the farming community in a better way he opined. He said that adopting village with a holistic approach to reduce poverty and migration to urban areas is need of the hour. Educating rural people on Nutritional balanced food to address the issue of malnutrition and assure farmers in improving farm income with appropriate technologies he said.

Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary Director General Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi also spoke on the occasion and Vice Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao presented a brief report on the varsity affairs.
